Through the years, such famous Bendigo mines as Central Nell Gwynne, Ironbark, North, South and Central Deborah, and Victoria Quartz contributed greatly to the total 595 million grams of gold found in the area. Production of gold ceased in 1954 with the closure of the Central Deborah Gold Mine.
