Pop Part of Sydney. (8km E Sydney) Eastern beachside suburb of Sydney between Bronte and Coogee. Originally known as 'Little Coogee', Clovelly was formally named as a village in 1914, after a town in Devon, England. Clovelly's long narrow bay was originally flanked by rocky shores. During the 1930s much of the rock was replaced with long concrete quays. A man-made protective reef was laid across the mouth of the bay in 1938. The Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1907.
